Migrating Birds, the 2016 #Birdwatching Festival in Lesvos

 The Public Library of Mytilene celebrated the European Day of birds 2016.

About 50 children with their parents responded with enthusiasm to the invitation of the Greek Ornithological Society and the Central Public Library of Mytilene for an feast related to migration birds of Lesvos.

Lesvos is a very popular destination for birdwatching.

 

The island’s list has more than 330 recorded species, and the visitor should enjoy for a week stay the watching of more than 120 species

 

If you are a birdwatcher, it is ideal to visit: in Spring (end of March to beginning of May) and Autumn (end of August to October) but also the year round.

 

Lessons for newcomers , and more elevated levels ,are offered in the island, by the Birdwatching Community doesn’t matter what your level in birding really is!

 

Lesvos is very close to the Asia Minor coast and is the Aegean Island with the most numerous wetlands that also holds an impressive variety of different and extensive habitats.
