The Greek CDC Recommendations to Travelers

Wash Your Hands many times during the day , and Do not touch  your face with your hands

Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community .

 

When should you wash your hands?

 

Feces (poop) from people or animals is an important sources of germs. A single gram of human feces—which is about the weight of a paper clip—can contain one trillion germs. Help stop the spread of germs by washing your hands often, especially during key times listed below.

 


 

Before, during, and after preparing food

Before eating food

Before and after caring for someone who is sick

Before and after treating a cut or wound

After using the toilet

After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet

After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing

After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste

After touching garbage



Food and Drink

Always have in mind that a tiny quantitive of food contamination may pose you on serious threat , Follow the recommendations for avoiding diarrhea , and be informed of the Food Safety Guidelines to Hoteliers, by the Greek CDC 

 

 

  • It;s Safe to eat ONLY  anything hot, dried or shelled
  • Avoid cold, raw or unpasteurized foods
  • Drink only bottled, sealed water, carbonated drinks, or drinks with boiled water
  • Avoid ice in drinks

 


Mosquitoes  and insect bites 

Insects, especially mosquitoes, are an all day threat to travellers to and from Greece, so HCDCP recommends:

 

 

  • Wear clothing with long sleeves and long pants after sunset
  • Use mosquito nets at night
  • use repellents

 

 


Accidents in Water

The Greek CDC, HCDCP recommends for  beaches, lakes, rivers and pools available for recreational activities.

 

 

  •  Avoid swimming in polluted waters
  • Use lifejacket in unknown seas
  • Use shoe shores of lakes and rivers
  • Avoiding bathing during the night
  • Estimation of depth and bottom before diving

 

 

 


Risks of biting animals

Since the Rabies disease is back in Greece, its better to take urgent measures if beaten by an animal in Greece. The Greek CDC, KEEPLNO recommends

 

 

  • Direct cleaning of the wound with soap and water
  • Vaccination against rabies
