It’s all about relaxation at the new five star Spa hotel Domes Noruz, wrote recently express.co travel blogger on her article "From exotic Thailand to heavenly Crete, Spa trek around the world" describing the pampering- mind- and- body details in each moment of the guest's staying
As soon as you settle in your sunlounger you’re handed a towel and a fresh juice, the editor describes, adding how easy it is to ...forget yourself in this earthly paradise lulled by the burble of the sea waves... .
I’s very easy to while away the entire holiday here if you’re that way inclined, she writes. It's a haven for those wanting to relax even further. Its pool, sauna and steam room area lined with comfy day beds, soothing music and dark lighting is really quite hypnotic.
Domes Noruz Chania, Crete
Where: On the northwest coast of Crete, five kilometres from Chania’s old town.
The lowdown: The word “noruz” means new light and this hotel certainly lives up to its name. With its sand-coloured walls and huge, ornate arches, it has the feel of a Moroccan villa mixed with a stunning contemporary design to set off the vivid blue of the Aegean beyond. The hotel has two generous swimming pools (one with a beach bar and spectacular sea views), a spa and gym. However, the rooms are the hotel’s real talking point. Each is decorated in stylish neutral and pastel tones with a choice of an outdoor whirlpool bath or a hot tub.
USP: The alfresco breakfast was without doubt a favourite experience with its amazing assortment of local fruits, freshly baked breads and eggs cooked any way you wish. When you find yourself asking, “Should I create my own smoothie this morning or go for champagne instead?” you know you’re in the right place. Enjoying a second cappuccino while gazing beyond the palms and watching early morning swimmers was an uplifting start to the day.
The hotel is a convenient 10-minute taxi ride away from the centre of Chania, where you can stroll around the old town’s narrow streets and market squares. Its architecture reflects the town’s Venetian heritage and it is ideal for a relaxed waterside lunch while taking in views of the lighthouse and old armoury that influenced the design of the hotel.
Who you’ll see in the steam room: The hotel is relatively new, but Pixie Lott was recently a visitor and it seems to be a fashion blogger’s paradise (the vast swimming pools and the amazing light make a great selfie background). Part of Domes Noruz’s charm is that it is unpretentious and welcomes anyone, from honeymooners to middle-aged couples. It’s an adults-only hotel that is perfect for complete peace and quiet.
Time for one treatment: A whole host of treatments is on offer, from Elemis facials and hot-stone massages to specialist sports treatments. I opted for a one-to-one session with a personal trainer, though, partly because I got to stay outside.
It was relaxed but thorough with a bit of yoga and Pilates combined to suit me. It was lovely to exercise as the sun came up and it was just enough toil to earn another decadent breakfast.
Our Tip¨Since you find yourself in Crete for spa and beuty treatments, don't miss the visit to Knossos Pallace to admire the Beauty since Minoan Antiquity on the women frescos, with make up on their face used in that times, and learn more about that in our special article
