Centenarian Greek passed away at age of 112 writing poetry to the very last moment

Hailing from a village in Ileia in the Peloponnese, Theodoros Masouras moved to Achaia some years ago and worked as a farmer, while in his spare time was known to write poetry.

Most significantly, during his long life he bore witness to some of the most significant events in the history of modern Greece, including both World Wars.

Coming from a family of eight brothers, while Mr Masouras outlived them all, there's no denying the family has some strong genes with the majority of his siblings dying between the ages of 90 and 104.

A widower himself, Mr Masouras struggled to raise his five children.

Having followed a healthy diet, he didn't have any serious health problems until recently in 2015 and despite being bed-ridden in the final year of his life, he continued to write poetry
